This is a bridge to an island just in the pond. Yes, below it is water. I was fascinated by the pattern created by the gaps between the planks.

I attempted to stand on the ice a few times, too. I could do it for a while, but when I tried to move, there was a really scary cracking noise. I scampered for shore like a frightened rabbit each time.
